Visitation schedules were interrupted due to the Covid-19 pandemic and are subject to change without notice! Please call the Jail 85 for the most recent visitation schedule. Inmates that have completed the intake process will be assigned to general population and housed in accordance with their charges. The first appearance can take place in the physical presence of the judge, by telephone, or by video. Once bond is established, inmates will be allowed reasonable opportunity to call bondsmen of their choice and/or family members for bond arrangements. The judge informs each arrested person of his/her charge(s) and the bond ($$) amount. Individuals that have been arrested and do not bond out of jail, appear before a judge within the first twenty-four (24) hours of arrest. Upon arrival at the Madison County Jail, each inmate completes property intake, (monies deposited, clothing, and miscellaneous items are inventoried), medical screening, and the booking process. The goal of the Detention staff is to create and maintain a safe, secure, and humane environment for both the staff and inmates. The Detention Facility operations is under the supervision of the Jail Administrator and the Detention staff. The Madison County Jail is under the direct authority of the Madison County Sheriff.
